#10 Delhi you stole my heart (Trip blog Part 1 of 2)

An auto driver said to me last year when returning to Goa from Delhi " Wapis kaun apni marzi se jaata hai sahab? Sab ki apni apni majboori hoti hai. " and how right was he. Same words echoing in my mind as I was heading back from what has been the longest time I have been out of home, 26 days to be precise, carrying something priceless with me. Memories, the moments spent living. Trip finally met its end and now I am back to where I began from, reality.

Word memories reminds me of my all time favorite song. Main Jahan Rahoon sang beautifully by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sahab. If you go through its lyrics you will realize why exactly its related to the word memories.
We are alive for all the time we spend on the planet but for how many moments do we truly live? According to me "Living is the time staying alive spent creating memories, to be remembered again and again." True isnt it? In our lives we all have those special memories which we reflect when not creating them. Think of your life, how long have you truly lived?

Coming back to the journey, it was a mixed bag, kind of unplanned adventure, a cocktail of moodiness, ill health, adventure, smiles, jokes, love, nostalgia, affection, friendship mixed together. Unfortunately I have gulped it all down. After a rather tense first night in Delhi I landed up at the Janpath Guest house, the manager agreed to knock off a part of room rent after I told him about my hospitality background. Decent place, 2 minutes from Rajiv Chowk metro station and surrounded by Janpath market and a never ending line of eating joints at the Connaught place. Nothing special was on plan for next few days except some minor sightseeing and meeting too much. The latter pursued me to cancel Jaipur visit and I agreed as I was now comfortable with the national capital and also I would spend some quality time with her.
In Due course I met Miss Aarti Verma, my online friend since 8 years and we have been through times of tagged, orkut, yahoo messanger, facebook to the whatsapp era. School days to grown ups. It was really a pleasure and she is awesome, spent some unforgettable moments with her.

With Delhi leg nearly ending I decided to do some sightseeing, being fond of history I am. Managed to inquire about Delhi tourism`s HopOn HopOff  (HOHO) service. Surmised by 2 routes, red and green, former covering historical places while latter covering places plus shopping. Covered both and what delighted me was the total convenience. Some memorable visits included visit to the Humayun`s tomb, the bahai Lotus temple, Red fort,Old fort, Feroz Shah Kotla and the National Gallery of Modern Art. With Humayuns tomb being absolute delight to shoot.

Delhi metro, where would I ever get to without you? This time I brought travelers pass which not only helped to jump q as well as gave me feeling of being a Delhiite like so many in the crowd.

Came March 19 and while heading to Chandigarh from Maharana Pratap Terminus, Kashmiri Gate ISBT which is more like airport than a bus terminal with security check and escalators. Volvo to Chandigarh was not a great deal, no curtains and it was hot. Felt sad to leave Delhi, but if you dont let go of one, you cant cling on to another right?

There I arrived in Sector 17 bus stop and Dr Ankit came to pick me up, felt so good, after 13 days in Delhi all by myself I will be with friends.
The excitement had just began...

P:S- Part 2 will have experiences of reminder of the tour.

Till then.. stay tuned, stay awesome ;)
